on top of sheltered sandstone ledge
overlook near northeasternmost picnic area
whitish verruculose rimose-areolate with conspicuous black prothallus, scattered with thalline warts (with pycnidia? becoming soralia?), cortex K- C- KC- UV-, medulla K- C- KC- UV+ice, apothecia black discose umbonate scattered with well-developed even smooth prominent black rim, epihymenium red-brown from pigment surrounding top few cells of paraphyses POL-, exciple brown outside hyaline inside, hymenium hyaline, subhymenium hyaline, hypothecium opaque white inside to dark brown outside all POL+ with thin ragged hyaline epinecrotic layer outside, cortex thin hyaline poorly delineated POL+, medulla densely packed with algae almost throughout POL+ clearing in K, paraphyses separating without pressure in K branching at tips swollen at some tips to 5um, some bubbles formed in K, asci with K/I+ thin dark blue cap, spores 8 per ascus hyaline simple smooth bent-oblong ~10-12×3.5-4um, pycnidia immersed in thalline warts, conidia 2.5×1um ellipsoid, in one individual soralia are forming on warts with pale greenish granular soredia
