Notes: on sheltered bark at base of huge leaning Quercus rubrum

open oak-hickory forest on ridge

thin olive crust, algae trentepohlia clearly, apotheca sinuous elongate black sessile and ~tall with clear black rim when old an disk becomes exposed, exciple black all the way underneath, epihymenium ~black, hypothecium reddish-brownish, hymenium ~60um I+ red vivid K/I+ bluish faint in low concentrations indistinct in high concentrations, asci clavate with thin walls and mostly thin K/I- tip, spores 8 per ascus hyaline long and narrow irregularly wide indistinctly 3-4-septate ~18-26×3um, pycnidia globose black semi-immersed ~150um wide, conidia tiny baciliform to ellipsoid 2-3×1um
