Notes: on trunk of smooth young Acer rubrum several feet off ground

old open oak-maple forest on west-sloping side-ridge

thallus white scurfy continuous thin, algae green coccoid, apothecia black thin irregular with bits of white crust scattered over top making it look almost pruinose, epihymenium dark brown K-, hymenium hyaline clear I+ red/brown K/I+ bluish, asci broadly clavate ~70-80×30-35um with thick K/I- or faintly bluish tip, spores ~6/ascus hyaline oblong to slightly larger at one end strongly muriform with ~10 septae and several longitudinal septae per appearing rough in water but smooth in I or K ~30×12um
