on trunk of smooth young Acer rubrum several feet off ground
old open oak-maple forest on west-sloping side-ridge
scurfy pale green crust, K- C- KC- UV-, apothecia pale tan shiny discose tiny, disk slightly tanner and more matte than rims, rims smooth well-developed prominant at least at first shiny, epihymenium and exciple and hypothecium all hyaline, exciple with loose tangle hyphae, asci K/I+ blue tip perhaps with blue tube-structure but that may be wishful thinking!, paraphyses scarcely branched septate ~gnarled, spores 8 per ascus simple hyaline ellipsoid to slightly curved and thicker at one end ~12-17×4um
