old open oak-maple forest on west-sloping side-ridge

thallus immersed to greenish scurfy, apothecia immersed to erumpent and convex black tiny scattered emarginate ~shiny but irregular-textured, epihymenium dark brown, exciple indistinct, hypothecium brown K+y P-, hymenium clear, thallus K- P+o/r in section, spores 8 per ascus brown 1-septate smooth briefly with evenly thick walls and unevenly-thickened septum but soon evenly thin ~20×8um but variable
