Observation 179460: Amanita muscaria subsp. flavivolvata Singer

When: 2014-09-17

Collection location: Cascades along Highway 12, Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Drew Henderson (Hendre17)

No specimen available

Notes:
Found at the base of a Western red cedar. Two Douglas fir and one Western hemlock within feet of these, as well.

Huge snowmelt area here- canopy is completely matted and still has areas of standing water. Unfortunately, my instincts were wrong about finding porcini here thus far this season- A.muscaria is always a good indicator for those though. Might be in luck in a few weeks if we finally get some rainfall.

Elevation: 2700ft.

Temp: low 60’s.
