I find these growing growing on a campground along side a river. The section of forest that it’s made up of seems like either spruce or pine trees. I have yet to find any larger mature specimens there. Some are difficult to find due to being covered up by the thick bed of needles. These are probably the closest I’ve found to those I’ve also seen in the Colorado Rockies.
I have collected in the Rockies. I think there’s a new species name for this type… forget it, though.
