Observation 179598: Lactarius Pers.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: The closest species I’ve found on the internet to guess what these mushrooms are is Cantharellus Cinnabarinus (Cinnabar or Red Chanterelle mushrooms).
These were growing beneath a conifer forest canopy at high elevation on the ground in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming.
In these photos, sometimes they look more orange than red; I think it was the light and the camera and time of day; they were more of a reddish orange color.
Correction: a better description of their color woul be salmon.
