this is clearly a Peziza under the scope. Dig those blue asci tips!

paraphyses straight with rounded tips; spores 15 × 7.5.

the cup that struck a chord!

I have this and will scope it. Peziza was my first guess in Alaska, but Tarzetta was spot-on in the macro (see Beug’s “Ascomycete Fungi of NA” for an identical photo). The scurfy, scaled exterior was particularly distinctive, and the hymenium for T. catinus is described as “hazelnut brown.”
