Notes:
Phaeolus schweinitzii (Fr.) Pat., Polyporaceae, Aphyllophorales. (Dye Polypore or Трутовик-швейница)
Ochre or rusty-brown flattened mushroom looks a thick velvety pancake.
Cap: 8-25cm wide, oval, circular or semicircular; convex or flat, sometimes fan-shaped, uneven and somewhat bumpy, sometimes a cap consists of overlapped some distant layers with concentric or irregular coloring (margins are lighter), velvety or fine velvety. Soft cap looks as building fine foam with light yellow margin or indistinct light yellow minor greenish-yellow spots among yellow-brown ochre or reddish-brown rusty mass as thick pancake. Cap grows through old and living branches, grass and needles including them and other vegetation fragments into a cap. It appears suddenly after rains; the more rains, the thicker mushroom and the more overlapped layers. Old cap is stiff or fragile, dark rusty-brown or reddish-brown.
Flesh: soft 0.5-3cm thick, dull yellow up to ochre-brown.
Tubes: 0.2-1cm long; pores 0.5-2mm wide, angular or indistinct and rounded.
Stalk: absent or short (1-3cm) and 1-2 cm thick.
Habitat: single and scattered on soil with needles under pine-trees or their roots, minor at the old partially rotten pine-tree stumps or trunks.
Edibility: stiff as a wood, no data on soft young mushroom.
Season: June-September.
