Notes: on quartzite; open conifer forest on west slope in canyon

thallus of smooth brown umbilicate squamules, squamules smooth and convex but lifted from surface at margins white to brown below some white pruinose around margin, apothecia 1 to few per areole fairly large inset rich red-brown, margins flush with or sometimes conspicuously raised in a parathecial crown same color as thallus sometimes pruinose on one side, epihymenium red-brown unchanged in K, parathecium strongly expanded at top, hymenium ~110-120um deep, paraphyses particularly slender from ~1um at base to ~3um at tips, spores many per ascus minute ~2.5-3×1.5-2um, algal layer conspicuously interrupted with jagged hyphal bundles, K- C- KC-, C- in section
