Recognized by sight: growth in manicured grass lawn in an arc. White, moderate-sized to smallish caps, not staining yellow strongly, scratched areas on stipe fading to reddish-brown. Base of most stipes relatively straight (not crooked). Partial smaller and less skirtlike and not remaining spread over gills as long in age as distinctly as frequently seen in A. xanthodermus, odor very slightly phenolic.
