Basing identification on Michael Kuo’s description of Trametes hirsuta: cap up to 10 cm. across and 6 cm. deep. This specimen was 7.5 cm. across and about 5 cm. deep. Cap densely hairy with zones of gray, brownish, whitish, not usually contrasting markedly. Ruled out Stereum hirsutum (much smaller)and Trametes pubescens (much lighter). Any suggestions or comments welcomed.
