Associated with older Western hemlock, Douglas-fir, White pine, chinquapin. White flesh, white gills, white spores, with spicy cinnamon odor.


In situ.
Base of stipe rooted in Mt. St. Helens ash, from eruption in May, 1980.
This cap showing blackened exposed cap areas, along with brownish scales in some areas. Took several sniffs to confirm. (Ah…)
