When: 2014-10-11

Collection location: Rockbridge Co., Virginia, USA [Click for map]

Who: Terri Clements/Donna Fulton (pinonbistro)

No specimen available

On ground under oak and maple and other hardwoods. Has the cap colors of C. iodes but here the yellowish cuticle seems to be breaking up to show the purple flesh giving it a scaly appearance. The cap fades to pale yellow on the disc and lilac on the margin. The gills and context are vivid purple at first.
