Recognized by sight: G.lucidum group will tend to be stipitate, the internal flesh will usually be a whitish color.The only members of the G.lucidum group shown by DNA evidence to occur in North America are G.tsugae and G.oregonense. Most sequences labeled G.lucidum from North America tend to fall in with G.curtisii and G.resinaceum both of which are distantly related to G.lucidum sensu stricto.
