Couldn’t identify what species of tree it was growing on. Very well could have been hemlock, they were in the area.

Recognized by sight: G.applanatum will have a darker flesh, the white in the photos from Mushroom expert is from mycelial regrowth.You can see under the dry spores in the second photo the surface is still shiny (even though it is dry) which is uncharacteristic of G.applantum.
