Recognized by sight: A. praeclaresquamosussensu in MD. The whole group is likely to be split into multiple taxa in Rick Kerrigan’s upcoming publication. The dark cap fibrils, rather blocky young caps and inky-dark squamules are more typical of A. praeclaresquamosus group than of A. hondensis which usually has paler fawn-pinkish cap fibrils, rounder caps, and tends to fruit later in the season. The two can be tough to tell apart, but A. hondensis usually stains yellow a bit less intensely
