which some of our members may not yet appreciate. This isn’t just a joke, it’s another mushroom observation, as in an observation of mushrooms, if only the representation of one, out in the world. Think of it as a small contribution to the anthropology of fungi/ethnomycology/whatever you want to call it. I’m sure a ton of us either possess or actively collect mushroomy things. I have a filing cabinet full of them. Chef pants, ties, illustrations from old children’s books and encyclopedias, a weird soda bottle, gucci scarves, figurines, various club and foray shirts, newspaper clippings, to say nothing of digital media. I like these things. I want to see mine and others’ given proper curation one day, not only because it would be supremely awesome to have a museum of the fungi, but because it would greatly enhance our ability to evaluate different cultures’ relationships with fungi during different periods of time.

Briefly put, I want more of these observations. We give them a name that Nathan marks as “Not for Export” and don’t have to worry about science sites scraping our scrapbook by mistake. Imagine if MO were a repository of and round table for all works of fungally inspired art? or music? David Rose did some of that with this project:

which I find absolutely fascinating.
