When: 2014-10-23
(42.8359° 88.9485° 241m)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This mushroom was a solitary specimen that was growing on a wound scar on a leaning limb of a box elder (Acer negundo) that was located in a low, wooded wetland bordering a pond. The stalk was very firm and could be detached only by slicing through its base with a knife. The gills are shown in the image of the detached specimen.
