Observation 185368: Hydnaceae sensu lato
When: 2014-09-06
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Connie Durnan spotted this interesting fungi (we think, at least) growing on a downed log. It’s fairly tooth-like with forked tips and grows in large clusters. Or maybe you’d call the teeth icicles? Tan colored. At first we thought the coloration could be due to aging, but younger specimens seem to be dark, too. Each “tooth” is only a couple inches long at most. Did not appear to be a common find.
