Observation 185658: Rhizopogon luteolus Fr.
When: 2014-10-26
Collection location: Braga, Portugal [Click for map]
No herbarium specimen

Notes: It’s the second time I see one of these. The first I lost in the way home. Both were found under oak but always in the presence of pines. Reddish yellow threads over a yellow/ochre background. Gleba doesn’t seem like rizopogon, but I don’t know.

can see the locules, Elsa. I have destroyed my suggestion of Tuber. It is very hard to compare the last two photos to the first photos. Usually Rhizopogon does not mature after being picked.

the same problem in the past on this obs. http://mushroomobserver.org/150375?q=2Ie76 remember? It’s very difficult to see the locules.
See this http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Rhizopogon
and this http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/rhizopogon-luteolus.php (why it is called false tuber)

After drying a bit I’ve been able to see some (not many) locules.

I don’t know any Tuber with threads on the peridium.
