Observation 185687: Suillus granulatus (L.) Roussel
When: 2014-10-26
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing in abundance now in mixed woods among leaf litter (mostly red oak and pine). Cap is tacky. Some larger specimens to about 4 inches across cap. Slugs munch on the stems of older ones but leave the caps untouched. Some appear to exude a pinkish white liquid from pores. Stipes are dusted slightly brown specks toward the cap. Cuticle peels away from cap flesh easily almost like a rubber glove.
