At base of rotting ponderosa stump near base of small north-facing basalt cliff. Particularly rich area for lichens with several unusual coastal disjuncts and oldgrowth species indicating greater humidity and less fire than usual for this region.

Wow, maybe the fungi show coastal affinities here, too. Neat place. Someone who knows their mushrooms should definitely check it out some day. Nastassja and I will be publishing our lichen inventory sometime next year once we finish processing this latest batch of several hundred specimens.
