Notes: Growing on a Hickory tree in hardwood forest. The first 4 photos are from 10/12/14 and the last 2 are from 10/16/14. Spore print was brown and I’ve included a photo.

Appear to be much to large for either P. granulosa or any “Flammulaster”.

A species very similar to Pholiota granulusa…

is Flammulaster erinaceela. The triangular flaps on the cap margin of the one specimen (photo taken at the earlier date) is a trait I expect with F. erinaceela. Scales on the cap surfaces look a bit flat for Flammulaster.
