Observation 187921: Tylopilus P. Karst.
When: 2014-11-09

Notes: Purple cap with brown equal stipe. Pores bruise from light cream to beige color. Velutinous cap in a half moon shape. Clavate stipe that is solid white in the middle when cut open. Smells like citrus similar to Mr. clean.

Recognized by sight: Looks more red than purple, at least to me. Fistulina hepatica has pores. They are discrete. Citrus sounds right for the smell: Fistulina hepatica contains Vitamin C, one of the few fungi that does.

The fistulina hepatica I researched didn’t have stipes. The one I posted does, its not in the picture, but I mentioned it in the description.
