Observation 187984: Amanita Pers.

When: 2014-11-10

Collection location: SE 76th and Division, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

At same location I found Amanita last year, under beech trees (which are not native) next to a parking lot, currently being considered for use by Portland State.

In situ.
In situ.
Volva collar-like.
Thick remants of universal veil.
Annulus skirt-like under white gills and yellowish-green to chocolate-tinted cap.
Cut cap showing a feature I have not heard about in Amanita: a latex is present from both the upper stipe and gills. Seems to be white or whitish, or clear-colored allowing the white of the gills to shine through. The stipe and gills are every so slightly yellowish.
Another feature for this Amanita not noted for other Amanitas I am aware of: a dimpled cap, much like the dimpling of a golf ball; best seen towards the side.
