Observation 188206: Scleroderma bovista Fr.

Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: -This specimen was found to be associated with the soil. This group of three spherical shaped structures were found growing in a cluster from one spot.
-At the base of the structures, there was a small root that connected the cluster of three and associated them with the soil.
-Each individual one measured to be about 0.9 cm across.
-The outside surface was dark brown in color with some minor spotting. When the structure was cut in half, the inside (gleba) appeared to be black.
-The spores appeared to be circular and ornamented.
