Observation 18830: Hygrocybe acutoconica (Clem.) Singer
When: 2009-02-23
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I considered H. flavescens but this has a more acute umbo than most specimens of that species.

Recognized by sight: an acute umbo is not part of the flavescens description…I suspect you have something else here. what, tho, is an open question.

Recognized by sight: This looks like the CA H. acutoconica; which can be yellow to orange, has a viscid conic cap and whitish to pale yellowish gills.
H. citrinovirens is very close to the California H. virescens, has a dry yellow to greenish-yellow cap and white gills.
