which can be identical in both groups, but the cap color that differentiates the two groups.
sometimes they are clearly yellow and we call them gemmatoid. Other times that are clearly brown, and we call them pantheroid. This has a combo of the two colors. Take your pick, esp. since we don’t currently have good names for any of these species.

For a while here in CA, Desjardin was calling them all panthers! Our understanding keeps shifting, but the mushrooms stay mostly the same.

What was the volva remnants like?

This looks more like a gemmata-group species with that pale cap
