Observation 188960: Leptoporus mollis (Pers.) Quél.
When: 2014-11-18
Who: DrMurky
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found near Butte Meadows, CA (NorCal) on 11/17/14.
I was hunting for potential dye agents when I found this. It was pinkish and quite fleshy (not woody). When I harvested it, the flesh reminded me of cut chicken in texture and color, though more pinkish. The smell was very pleasant, faintly sweet.
Dye results: does not create dye liquor

Yes, it was soft. The insides were squishy (very moist).
