Observation 189199: Cortinarius subsulfurinus Ammirati, Dima, Liimat., Niskanen & Garnica
When: 2014-11-11

Notes: Caps up to 5.5 cm across and tacky.
Spores ~ 11.9-13.5 X 7.5-9.0 microns, ellipsoid and moderately rough.
KOH on caps and stems was orangy red.
KOH on flesh was orangy.
Did not test with UV on fresh material, however, the dried stipes and gills were yellow under UV light.

tacky plus stuck on debris usually indicates a former slime coat.

cort hunters need both a bottle of KOH and a UV lamp? does yours plug into your dash, for those field tests on fresh material?

I must have been blind the first time I looked at that collection. Thiss is clearly a Phlegmacium, not a Leprocybe.
