Observation 18933: Cortinarius magellanicus Speg.
When: 2009-02-26
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: I found tons of these growing all over medium to high elevations in the Nothofagus pumilio forest; CAP to 1.5" wide, viscid, variably colored (seems to be purple until any moisture or exposure washes/bleaches it out making it pale buff to creamy-white), glabrous; GILLS creamy white, slightly notched; STIPE viscid, cap-colored; SPORES rusty brown (visible on top of the ring of a few in second photo); VEIL rather membranous like the other persistently-purple one; OTHER no odor detected.
