Observation 190704: Clavariadelphus unicolor (Berk. & Ravenel) Corner

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found at 10:11am.
It was not growing alone, but found growing in a cluster of three.
Fruiting body color: brown/light pink
The separation point between the top and bottom of the fruiting body becomes a light brown/white mix.
Fruiting body size: height-5.9 cm width-3.2 cm
Pileus surface: irregular, wrinkled,cracked, dry, dull
Clusters of dirt stuck to surface.
Bottom of the fruiting body: dry, dull, brittle, thinner that top of the fruiting body
No gills.
Fruiting body shape: balloon shaped
No annulus
Bottom surface: solid, tapered at base with a rusty brown, white color
When the top of the fruiting body was cut open the inside was filled with a white, cotton-like material.
Stipe base: inserted base in the soil
