Notes: Caps – Slimy in buttons, moist and sticky in mature caps. Dark brown in buttons with dark center. Becomes lighter brown in mature caps, still darker at center and a little depressed at maturity.
Cap – 3 cm across, upturned at maturity.

Gills – yellow, close, sub decurrent in mature cap. Gill edges not serrated.

Stem – length = cap diameter at maturity. Shallowly rooted, white mycelium, upper half is yellow, lower half white, covered remains of cortina.

Buttons – slimey, dark brown with darker center of cap. Cap rolled in, cortina in place.

Growing on ground in wooded area with short-leaf pine, Loblolly Pine, Sweet Gum and other hardwoods.
