Growing in soil a few yards from bottom of a draw, under live oaks predominantly, some pine (gray and ponderosa) and black oak.

Small group of 3 of these; two growing right next to each other.

Top, coral-like area about 7 cm across; stipe about 6 cm long and 2-3 cm wide, tapering toward ground.

Odor: Faintly like cauliflower or green scallions

Taste, raw: faintly onion-y, possibly bitter
