Notes: This fungus was found growing in soil in Deep River County Park, Hobart, IN. I had some Laccaria with particularly large caps, measuring 12 cm, while some species I had possessed caps that measured 5.4 cm. The pileus was shiny and silky in texture, and the shapes were also varied, from being broad, flat, convex, and slightly uplifted to a plane with slight umbo.
The stipe sizes and shapes were also different: some tapered to the bottom, whilst some were equal in size, with measurements ranging from 4.5-11 cm long and a fibrillose texture. Stipe and cap color were the same: pale grey, off-white. The gills were even, very thin (~2 mm) and purple in color.
