Observation 194085: Hebeloma sinapizans (Fr.) Sacc.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Cap – 3-4 inch diameter. Viscid
No PV or cortina – notice that a small button is growing on the side of the largest – there is no cortina.

Chemical – Negative to KOH on cap and flesh.

Spore Print – Brown

Spore Size –
[20/1/1] L (9.9-) 10.2-11.5 (-11.7) μm x W (5.0-) 5.1 – 6.4 (-6.7) μm, (L = 10.9 μm, W = 5.4 μm), Q (1.73-) 1.74-2.17 (-2.18), Q=2.00 elongate, with snout, verrucose.

Microscopy – Clamp connection were found in the pelius trauma. Clamped connections were seen in pelius trauma. Outer gelatinized hyphae are consistent with the viscous cap. Other features not noted.

Habitat – Growing in gravel next to paved path, disturbed ground.

Smell – moderate mushroom

This keys out as H. sinapizan. However, growing by the path in gravel does not seem right. However, the path through woods is narrow and mature hardwoods and pines are close to the path.
