Observation 194249: Pluteus Fr.
When: 2014-12-21
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Spore Print – in progress but little hope, almost turned to mush in my hands.

Growing on rotted mature River Birch log. Growing directly out of the wood.

Smell – strong, bad mushroom – like rotting mushroom.

Cap – 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick, tan, shiny, very soft, 2 inch (5 cm) across. Viscid, sticky. I did not section as they were too soft.

Gills – colored like cap. Appears to be deeply notched or free. ( hard to handle as so soft). note rusty stains on gills, may indicate spore color.

Stalk – 2 inch (5 cm) long. White or tan. White flesh in stalk. very soft and viscid, slimy like cap.

*note – rained in the morning.
