Notes: Identification based on the mushrooms bright yellow pores, blue bruising, reticulated upper stem. Several were growing at the base of a old oak tree along the trail.

Recognized by sight: The reticulated upper stipe on some of these is tricky – more coarse (due to being primarily an extension of the pore layer) than is seen on Butyriboletus. Stipes of Xercomus fruitbodies are also more slender, with velvety (less smooth) caps.
