Observation 194573: Entoloma subgenus Nolanea (Fr. : Fr.) Noordel.

Notes: (note – very similar to MO 194830 – spore sizes similar)

Spore Print: pinkish brown.

Spore Size:
[20/1/1] L (10.5-) 10.7-12.3 (-12.8) μm x W (7.7-) 7.8 – 8.9 (-) μm, (L = 11.5 μm, W = 8.4 μm), Q (1.22-) 1.25-1.44 (-1.48), Q=1.37 ellipsoid, six-sided, smooth, heterodiametric.

Shape: -Tall, stipe much longer than cap is wide.

Ecology: growing in Oak leaf litter, no nearby pines. Several growing under the mature Oak Tree in the leaves.

Cap: Younger ones bell shaped, mature shield shape with umbo. Mature is 1.75 (4.5 cm) inches across. Showed ridges along outer edge, but it had rained only 2 hours earlier. Was not sticky but moist from rain.

Gills: White, mature showing some pink spots. Close, short gills. Adnate with notch, short connection to stem. Was moist when broken but it had rained 2 hours earlier.

Stipe: 3.5 inches (8.5 cm) long. Hollow. Snapped cleanly across with little effort. Fibrous. Turning sideways at base creating a foot that rested on leaves and forest litter connected with white mycelium. see photos. White mycelium continued up the stem about 1/3 of the stem.

Smell – very mild faintly not mushroom, not unpleasant.

5% KOH on cap and gills, no effect. 10% household ammonia on cap and gills, no effect.
