These specimen grow on the same boulder as the ones in observation 194692

Both Wetmore and Thomson state that C.sideritis can have a deviation in color of a disk from its normal rusty-orange color to darker colors and all the way to black. In these photos (as well as in observation 194692) one can see intermediate color forms scattered in between perfectly orange and perfectly black apothecia. We’ll see what tests will show…
