No herbarium specimen

Notes: This lone specimen was growing out of the base of a standing dead oak tree. The cap was about eight inches across at the widest part. The stipe is hollow from base to the beginning of the cap.

Recognized by sight: Gymnopilus ventricosus is supposed to have a solid stipe. This has a hollow one.
