Notes: Two individuals growing in a building side planter, in imported wood chips, and under a small coast live oak (Quercus agrifolia). Cap upper surface black, undersurface gray and powdery. Stalk lacunose.

The shorter stature, the grooves in the cap, and the white to black contrast between stipe and cap is a match all around for H. dryophila.
