Notes: Growing in dirt under oaks. Specimen caps 8-12 cm. across, with mauve (dusty violet) gills. Caps lighter at margins (tan or beige) to yellow and medium brown centers. Radially fibrillose. Wavy, incurved margin. Spore print cinnamon powder, a reddish light brown. Specimen stipes 8 cm. long, 3.5-5 cm. wide; wider at base; bruise brown. Weblike veil remnants superior.
Crushed cap has little odor, but crushed stalk smells mushroomy.
