Thank you for looking at my observation. Perhaps this photo will give you a better idea of the size and the encrusted top surface (after being removed from tree). I could not identify the tree upon which it was growing because of advanced decay; however, I doubt it was a conifer because the location was an oak-hickory forest. Have not seen conifers there. This specimen is not zoned or concentrically grooved, nor does it have a thin, acute margin (reference Arora’s “Mushrooms Demystified.”) I would not describe the pore surface as “rosy.”
