Observation 196510: Hygrophorus agathosmus (Fr.) Fr.
When: 2015-01-14

Notes: This fruiting body was particularly large for the species description. It also had conspicuously scalloped edges to which the picture does not do justice. The smell of almond extract from this mushroom was stronger and sweeter than any other I have experienced. Smaller specimens that were less aromatic and lacking the scalloped edges were found ~100m away from this one.

Pileipellis did not appear to be parallel to cap surface, which contrasts with the “ixocutis” that Hygrophorus agathosmus is supposed to have. However this could of just been a mistake of my amateur eyes.
