Not sure how distinct they are. I’ve only seen P. tavaresii. (And it’s possible P. tavaresii is just North American?) Definitely easier to see soredia / isidia when dry!

Embarrassing admission: I used to misidentify P. tavaresii all the time, called it Parmeliella triptophylla instead. :) But once you see real P.triptophylla, you’ll never make that mistake again!

It was a big one. It’s certainly much easier to recognize them in dry weather. Maybe the other obs. is the P. conoplea, what do you think (at least it can be confused with Parmeliella tryptophylla as said on the site)? They were together on the same tree.

I wondered about P. conoplea, too. :)
