Observation 196641: Cuphophyllus lacmus (Schumach.) Bon

Group of four, under redwood. Caps 4 cm or less. Stem not viscid, cap not viscid (or slightly). Odor present, hard to describe; maybe “earthy” as mentioned in descriptions.

Basidia mostly 4-spored, but there are some 2-spored too; size 50 × 10. A few spores: 8-9 × 5. No cheilocystidia. Gill trama interwoven.
