Observation 196811: Russula pulverulenta Peck
When: 2014-09-27
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing singly from the ground in mixed woods, almost entirely covered by fallen leaves. Difficult to differentiate between this ID and P. granulata due to similarities in almost every aspect. However, the detailed description of the cap surface of P. pulverulenta — as opposed to P. granulata — provided by Michael Kuo (in reference cited above)is what I observed on this specimen.
